Michael L. Gibson is retiring June 30 from Team Financial Inc., after working for 36 years for the Paola financial institution.

In 1971, Gibson joined Miami County National Bank, the predecessor of TeamBank, and served in various capacities, including bank president. He currently is president of corporate development for Team Financial, the bank holding company for TeamBank.

Gibson was among the founders of an employee stock ownership plan that bought Miami County National Bank from W.C. “Dub” Hartley in 1986 in a leveraged buyout. He also played a key role in taking Team Financial public in 1999.

“The opportunity to take early retirement is a goal Linda and I have had over the years. We will remain active in the community we love,” Gibson said. “I am looking forward to working with charitable activities and also new entrepreneurial opportunities.”

Gibson is a member and former president of the Kansas Bankers Association, past chairman of the association's Federal Affairs Committee and a member of the association's Governing Council. He also serves on the Government Relations Council of the American Bankers Association.

Aside from his banking duties and affiliations, Gibson has been active in the Paola community. He served on the Paola USD 368 Board of Education, was involved in Paola Little League and served as deacon and elder of the First United Presbyterian Church in Paola.
