New School Year Brings New Faces

Many in Group of Eight New Teachers Have Ties to Osawatomie & Area

Three Osawatomie High School graduates have returned to teach in USD 367 this year, and three other new teachers have ties to local schools.

The district hired eight new teachers in all for the new year, which starts for many students today.

Five new teachers are at Trojan Elementary School, one is at the middle school, and one will be at the high school.

New teachers reported to work Aug. 7 for orientation.

EMILY MITCHELL

It has been just three years since Mitchell graduated from OHS, and she returns to the district as a kindergarten teacher. Mitchell took just three years to complete her teaching degree at Pittsburg State University. This is her first teaching job.

APRIL ALLEN

Allen graduated from OHS in 1999 and went on to Pittsburg State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 2006. Last year, Allen taught at Central Heights USD 288. She will teach first grade in Osawatomie.

KELLEY WALLACE

Wallace graduated from OHS in 1984. She earned her teaching degree from Emporia State University in 2007. She will teach second grade in Osawatomie as a first-year teacher.

BECKY STAINBROOK

Stainbrook is a 2002 graduate of Prairie View High School. She went on to earn her bachelor's from Pittsburg State University in December 2006. Last year, she was a substitute teacher at Osawatomie, Prairie View and Paola. She will teach third grade this year.

JULIE ROACH

Roach is a 1990 graduate of Central Heights High School and a 1994 graduate of Ottawa University. For the past eight years, she has taught at Anderson County Middle School. She will teach sixth-grade science in Osawatomie.

MATT HIGGINS

Higgins graduated from Prairie View High School in 2001 and from Pittsburg State University in 2005. Last year, he taught at Eudora High School and will teach industrial arts at Osawatomie High School this year.

HELEN WOOLSEY

Woolsey is a 1998 graduate of Eads (Colo.) High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from Emporia State University in 2007 and will be teaching kindergarten in Osawatomie this year.

SHEILA HAGNAUER

Hagnauer graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., in 1983. She has taught for the past 19 years at the elementary school in Oldsburg, Kan. Hagnauer will teach fourth grade this year in Osawatomie.
