It has been my pleasure over the past year to serve as the discerning eyes and ears at the movies for our faithful readers. Having finished my fifth year at this post, I now have the dubious distinction and prioritizing challenge of selecting my favorite motion pictures of 2007 as well as those I disliked the most. I have added a secondary list of stinkers to stay clear of that just missed the cut.

This exercise is limited to movies that opened in calendar year 2007 in the metropolitan area. “The Bucket List” starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, opening this Friday, would have made my superior list. Films denoted with an asterisk are now available on DVD or VHS.
