Author and well-known speaker, Donna Kay, will discuss her new book, “The Complete Diabetes Lifestyle,” at the April 10 meeting of the Miami County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. Her book is a practical, first-hand account of how to successfully manage Type II diabetes. The group meets at the Paola Senior Center, 121 W. Wea, at 7 p.m.

Ms. Kay had been a successful businesswoman when she was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in 2003. She began a personal crusade to educate herself about the disease. This resulted in her writing about this experience and stressing the importance of taking a positive approach to making lasting changes for a better life.

She currently works out of the Greater Kansas City Area Diabetes Association office where she serves as chair of the Regional Diabetes Association Leadership Council and serves on the Patient and Family Education Committee.

There will be a drawing for three of Kay’s books at the meeting. Everyone is welcome.
