Council To Discuss Annexation
Thursday’s Meeting Will Start One Hour Earlier
Osawatomie City Council members have scheduled extra time into their meeting this week, as they prepare to tackle a controversial issue once more.
Council members will again discuss the city’s proposed annexation of nearly 100 acres of unincorporated land south and east of Osawatomie State Hospital.
Thursday’s council meeting will start at 6 p.m., one hour earlier than most meetings, though it will still be held at Memorial Hall, 411 11th St.
Council members will also consider an option agreement with Sunflower Funding, LLC during Thursday’s meeting for the development of a portion of the Northland Project, said City Manager Bret Glendening. He said the option agreement would be the next step in developing the area commercially.
Finally, council members will consider a rezoning request for a parcel of land along Old Kansas City Road.
Scott Taylor of Metro Excavating, which is based out of Olathe, applied for a rezoning from agricultural district to business park district of three acres of land located west of Old Kansas City Road and north of 327th Street, near the Miami County Airport. The land falls outside the Osawatomie city limits, but within the city’s growth area.
