Blue Jays’ Scaife signs hoops letter

Raytown High’s Brandon Scaife has signed a letter-of-intent to play basketball for Seminole State Community College in Seminole, Okla.
This past season, Scaife averaged 12.5 points and 8 rebounds a game. In his junior and senior years, the Jays were 51-4.
“He is a great kid,” Coach Mark Scanlon said. “His best basketball is ahead of him.”
O’Hara’s Storms, White
win conference titles
Max Storms won the 3,200-meter run, and T. J. White won the high jump in the West Central Conference meet held in Harrisonville.
Storms also took second place in the 1,600. Bryce Dennis was runner-up in the discus. Terrell Johnson took third in the 400.
Emily DeMarea finished second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles. She ran the first leg of the 400 relay, which came in second place. Other runners on the relay team were Cameron Randle, Breanna Ransburg, and Chelsea Rose.
The 800 relay team of Anna German, Cameron Randle, Breanna Ransburg and Chelsea Rose also finished in second place.

Celtics to victory
In a pitching duel, O’Hara came out victorious in vying for first place in the West Central Conference by taking a 1-0 decision against Clinton on Monday, May 5.
Aaron Stubblefield pitched five scoreless innings with six strikeouts and two walks. He faced 22 batters.
Cullen Rowland got the save, pitching the last two innings. He faced seven and had one strikeout.
Vince Saviano went 3-for-3, driving in the only run of the game with a bases-loaded single.
The other five O’Hara hits came from Mike Rowland, Aaron Mitchell, Joey Tucker, Cullen Rowland and Danny Apgar.
