HIGH SCHOOL GRAD DATES SET

Area high schools are winding down the school year and seniors will be graduating soon.

Graduation dates are: St. Teresa’s and Rockhurst, May 18; Center and Barstow, May 19; Notre Dame de Sion, May 22; and Pembroke Hill, May 24.


UMKC UNVEILS NEW ATHLETICS LOGO

The University of Missouri-Kansas City athletic department has released its new athletic logo.

Voters on the athletic department’s Web site chose the winning design, which won 59 percent of the 2,200 votes. A logo with a boxing Kangaroo received 41 percent of the vote.

Bernstein-Rein Advertising designed the logos. School officials said apparel with the new logo will be available in the fall.


TRAILSIDE CENTER'S SECOND FRIDAY

The Trailside Center, 9901 Holmes, will hold its monthly Second Friday’s event from 7:30 to 9 a.m. May 9.

Speakers include Carol Winterowd discussing the Kansas City Neighborhood Advisory Council and Stacey Johnson-Crosby discussing the Neighborhood Tourism Development Fund.

There will be an opportunity to meet community and political leaders from south Kansas City. The event is hosted by City Council Members Cathy Jolly and John Sharp and sponsored by Community Assistance Council and Historical Society of New Santa Fe.
