Liberty High’s boys golf team didn’t want to end the season this way.

Despite taking third at the district tournament, the Blue Jays were able to send four golfers to the Class 4 state tourney at Island Green Golf Course in Republic.

Liberty was unable to sustain any momentum from its district performance and took 13th out of 13 teams at state on Monday and Tuesday, May 12 and 13.

The Blue Jays finished with a two-day total of 686 strokes. Rockhurst won the tournament with a score of 624, followed by: Park Hill South, Ozark, Kickapoo, Blue Springs South, Eureka, Rolla, Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit West, Parkway Central, Lindbergh and Parkway South.

Senior Derek Swinford was Liberty’s top finisher. He had rounds of 79 and 80 on the par-72 course to finish in a tie for 33rd.

Junior Derek Martinez tied for 96th with a two-day total of 170. Sophomore Sala Still was 110th with a score of 177, and junior Jacob Glaser tied for 116 with a total of 180 strokes.
