PHS seniors continue to win local scholarships
Three Paola High School students have received additional local scholarships.
Melissa (Keithly) Allen received a $1,000 Osawatomie Elks Scholarship.
Megan Bach and Tyler Moore each received $150 Shirley Ann Lalman Foster scholarships.
Kennedy receives Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship
Bridget Kennedy of Paola has been selected to receive a 2008 Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship. Sixty Kansas students received the four-year scholarship. Each recipient will received $1,500 for the 2008-2009 academic year.
In its 22nd year, the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program is designed to promote student excellence and achievement and to recognize exceptionally able students who show promise of continued excellence. Scholarships are awarded by congressional district.
An advisory committee representing school administrators, representatives from higher education institutions, State Board of Education members, and business and industry leaders selected the scholarship recipients. This year 227 graduating high school seniors, who met the scholarship requirements, submitted applications.
Meinhardt makes dean’s list at DePaul
DePaul University student Christopher Meinhardt of Paola has been named to the Dean’s List for the 2008 winter quarter. To receive Dean’s List commendation, full-time students must earn a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Serving over 23,000 students, DePaul University is the largest Catholic University in the country and offers programs, many of which are nationally ranked, in the liberal arts and sciences, education, commerce, law, computer technology, music and theater.
