Brodie, Burk, Sturn turn in gold-medal performances as JV girls win league meet

Lauren Brodie, Lauren Burk, Jade Sturm each won events to lead the Paola High School girls to the team title in the Frontier League junior varsity track meet May 5 in Eudora.
Paola scored 106 points, defeating second-place Baldwin by 26 points to win the team crown.
Amanda Zirkle and Erin Fuchs also added to the Panthers’ point total, placing second in two events each.
Brodie ran a time of 29.8 seconds for first place in the 200-meter dash. She placed third in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the long jump.
Burk ran a time of 14.2 for first place in the 100-meter dash. She was third in the 200-meter dash.
Sturm won the long jump with a leap of 14 feet 3.25 inches.
Zirkle placed second in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles.
Fuchs was second in the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200-meter run.
The Panthers were second in the 4x100-meter relay.
Kate Magee placed third in the triple jump. She was sixth in the 400-meter dash.
Rachelle Guenther was fourth in the 400.
Morgan Garvey placed fifth in the shot put and sixth in the discus.
