Eighth-grade boys win two events at league

The Paola Middle School eighth-grade boys won two event titles during the Frontier League meet at Gardner-Edgerton High School on May 3.

Paola won the 800-meter medley relay, crossing the finish line in 1 minute, 48.01 seconds for first place in the event.

Zach Johnson won the league title in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet 8 1/2 inches. He placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.18.

Justin Dunmars was second in the long jump, and Tyler Henness placed third in the event.

The eighth-grade boys scored 59 points, placing third in the league meet.

Seth Kern finished fourth in the high jump.

Paola was fifth in the 4x200-meter relay and fifth in the 4x400-meter relay.

Kevin Rayne placed fourth in the shot put and sixth in the discus.

The seventh-grade boys scored 33.5 points, placing eighth in the league.

Paola went first and second in the shot put.

Mitch Gilliland won the event with a mark of 33-8 1/2. Joe Pomatto was second for the Panthers. Pomatto was sixth in the discus.

Peter Timpe placed fourth in the long jump.

Paola was fifth in the 4x400-meter relay.

Collin Wiswell placed sixth in the 100-meter dash and seventh in the 200-meter dash.

Matt Petelin was sixth in the 800-meter run.

Brandon Blackman placed sixth in the high jump.
