Quail Unlimited program open
The 2008 Quail Unlimited/Budweiser Adopt-A-Covey program is open to farm cooperators.
There are a several levels of participation. One level is to complete an enrollment form and submit it to Quail Unlimited. The form is available online at www.qu.org/adopt_a_covey.cfm. The deadline to register is May 31.
The form serves as a reminder and outline for landowners and managers to develop management practices that may be incorporated into quail management plans.
There is no cost to submit an application documenting habitat improvements. Landowners who complete and submit habitat enrollment applications will receive a free gate sign to display on their property and a habitat management booklet.
In addition to the sign and habitat booklet, entries will be evaluated and judged on a regional basis. Winners will be chosen based on the quality and quantity of management activities conducted on their property.
Jason Johnson of Paradise Island Farms near Greensburg, was recently recognized as the 2007 Quail Unlimited/Budweiser Adopt-A-Covey Central Plains Regional Award winner.
