Certified Wildlife Habitats help sustain the outdoors
Would you like to join other wildlife enthusiasts across the country who have been recognized for creating havens for neighborhood wildlife in their backyards?
These enthusiasts have provided the essential elements for healthy and sustainable wildlife habitats and have earned the distinction of being part of National Wildlife Federation’s Certified Wildlife Habitat program.
There is a $15 fee to be certified by the National Wildlife Federation. You get a personalized certificate to recognize your NWF Certified Wildlife Habitat; a NWF membership, which includes a full year’s subscription to National Wildlife magazine; a subscription to the quarterly e-mail newsletter “Habitats,” containing tips and information on gardening and attracting wildlife year after year; and your name listed in NWF’s National registry of certified habitats.
To be eligible, you must provide elements from each of the following areas: food sources such as native plants, seeds, fruits, nuts, berries and nectar; water such as birdbath, pond, water garden or stream; cover, which may include brush thicket, rock pile, birdhouse or place to raise young; and a sustainable garden.
For more information call the NWF, (800) 822-9919, or send an e-mail to info@nwf.org.
