INJURY ACCIDENTS
Kristina G. Wade, 15, Spring Hill, was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger west on 223rd Street east of Yankee Bit Road at 3:31 p.m. May 5 when she lost control of the vehicle, which veered into the south ditch, hit an embankment and a culvert and overturned, according to a Miami County Sheriff’s Office report. Wade suffered a non-disabling injury and was taken by ambulance to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Her passenger, Spencer Booten, 14, Olathe, also was injured and was taken by air ambulance to Children’s Mercy Hospital. Both were wearing seat belts.
ACCIDENTS REPORTED
Dustin D. Roush of Spring Hill was driving a 1993 Acura Integra north on Ridgeview Road north of 223rd Street at 8:50 p.m. May 5 when he hit a mailbox and then left the scene, according to a sheriff’s office report. It is unknown if Roush was injured or if he was wearing a seat belt. Roush was charged in Miami County District Court with failing to report an accident.
Pamela S. Hill of Paola was driving a 1999 Chrysler Concord west on 271st Street east of Crescent Hill Road at 10:07 a.m. May 8 when she hit a bridge railing, according to a sheriff’s office report. Hill was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.
Lisa M. Derr of Paola was driving a 2001 Ford Excursion east on 255th Street west of Crestview Drive at 10:12 p.m. May 8 when she hit the rear of a 1999 Jeep Wrangler driven by Paul L. Shinstine of Paola, according to a sheriff’s office report. Neither driver was injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
John Williams of Paola was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala east on 311th Street east of Pflumm Road at 2:05 p.m. May 10 when he hit a deer, according to a sheriff’s office report. Williams was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.
Kevin R. Weers of Linn Valley was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 south on U.S. Highway 69 north of 399th Street at 9:15 p.m. May 11 when he hit a deer, according to a sheriff’s office report. No injuries were reported. Weers and his two passengers were wearing seat belts.
Shane K. Gibson of Paola was driving a 2007 GMC C6500 west on 287th Street west of Clare Road at 10:08 a.m. May 12 when he lost control of the vehicle, which overturned in a ditch, according to a sheriff’s office report. Gibson was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.
An unknown person was driving an unknown vehicle north on Plum Creek Road at 4:30 p.m. May 12 when he or she attempted to turn west onto 335th Street and hit a utility pole before fleeing the scene, according to a sheriff’s office report.
Hugh Huffman of Chanute was driving a 2001 Chrysler south on U.S. Highway 169 south of Edgerton Road at 11:05 p.m. May 12 when he hit a deer, according to a sheriff’s office report. Huffman was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.
OFFENSES REPORTED
Christopher J. Noyes of Cleveland, Mo., reported a rear fender was damaged at 8511 W. 251st St. between 8 p.m. May 3 and 9 a.m. May 4. The damage estimate is $1,000.
Julie A. McWilliams of Paola reported a chainsaw valued at $330 was taken from W. 363rd Street between 9 p.m. May 4 and 6 a.m. May 5.
Stephanie A. Otto of Paola reported she was a victim of identity theft at 118 S. Pearl St. between 2:34 and 2:45 p.m. May 5.
Michelle Burdine of Louisburg reported a mailbox was damaged at 26874 Jaymar Drive at 5:23 p.m. May 8. The damage estimate is $80.
Davey L. Acord of Louisburg reported he was the victim of a vicious animal at 26921 New Lancaster Road between 5:07 and 5:48 a.m. May 13.
BOOKED INTO JAIL
Joshua W. Marshall, 32, was booked into the Miami County Jail on May 7 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and no proof of insurance.
Lisa M. Derr, 33, was booked into jail on May 9 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failing to report an accident.
Michelle N. Ochoa, 25, was booked into jail on May 9 for allegedly writing a worthless check.
Jason A. Simons, 21, was booked into jail on May 11 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Benjamin R. Johnson, 28, was booked into jail on May 12 for allegedly writing a worthless check.
