Osawatomie senior golfers Mitch Russell and Jordan Soucie looked to extend their high school careers by one week on Monday at the Class 4A regional.
They came up short, however.
Russell carded the best round on the day for Osawatomie. He opened his day with a solid front nine, shooting a 42. He followed that with a 48 on the back nine, finishing in a five-way tie for 17th in the individual standings.
Soucie, a state qualifier as a sophomore, shot a 97. He finished in a tie for 28th.
The Trojan underclassmen came up short in their state bids as well.
Weston Shay shot a 104, and Jake Auten and Mark Pretz tied for 43rd with scores of 108. Bryan Switzer carded a 112.
Osawatomie carded a four-player score of 399 to place seventh at the Ottawa County Club.
Regional success was just as elusive for Prairie View, which brought only three golfers to the regional.
Bryce Gorrell carded a 104, the best round on the day for the Buffalos. Dylan Woods had a 121, and John Mayhew finished at 132.
