Betty J. Bauer
April 3, 1933-May 20, 2008
Betty J. Bauer, 75, Louisburg, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in St. Luke’s Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., after a long illness.
She was born April 3, 1933, in Bloomfield, Neb., the daughter of Duncan and Anna Clausen McShannon.
She occasionally worked outside the home, but dedicated herself to making a home and caring for her husband and her six children. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren.
Mrs. Bauer was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society of Louisburg and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Those preceding her in death included four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John R. Bauer; two daughters, Marie Franklin of Louisburg and Margaret Keith of Joplin, Mo.; four sons, John Bauer, Bob Bauer and Jim Bauer, all of Louisburg, and Chuck Bauer of Pleasanton; two sisters, Evelyn Sharpe of Louisburg and Jeanette Cappelano of Omaha, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today in the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Louisburg.
The family requests memorials be given to the Ursuline Sisters of Paola in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 120 S. Broadway, Louisburg, KS 66053.
