SCHOOL TASK FORCE MEETING

The Kansas City School District’s Education Reform Task Force will have one more meeting to gather input from residents and constituents.

The final public meeting will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Hartman Elementary School, 8111 Oak.

The task force is co-chaired by Rev. Wallace Hartsfield and Susan Stanton.

Task force members are looking for attendees to discuss how the community can support efforts to make area schools better for the children and how to achieve a road map to success.

WALK TO REMEMBER IN JUNE

The Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care will hold its first Walk to Remember on Saturday, June 7 at Avila University, 11901 Wornall.

At the family-friendly walk, participants can walk in memory of someone and wear that person’s name on a sign on their back. Walkers can register as individuals or as a team of six and can choose to raise additional funds for the hospice. Prizes will be given for those raising the most money and include a free Webkinz to the first 50 participants raising $250 or more.

The event will also include a live band, face painting, T-shirts, lunch and cars from the Kansas City Chapter of the Ferrari Club of America.

Registration is $45 per person and includes lunch and a T-shirt. Kids under 11 are free, but T-shirts cost $5.

HOLSMAN HOLDS OFFICE HOURS

Rep. Jason Holsman, District 45, will hold mobile office hours at Gail’s Harley Davidson, 5900 E 150 Highway, Grandview, following the Harry’s Hay Days Parade on Saturday, May 17, in Grandview. Holsman will be available to discuss the end of the legislative session, hear bill ideas for next year and assist with any governmental hours.


JIGGLE JAM A CONCERT FOR KIDS

Jiggle Jam Family Fest is coming to Crown Center, 25th and Grand, during Memorial Day weekend.

The first-ever Jiggle Jam will feature top children’s performers and bands.

They Might Be Giants will headline and are joined by artists including Justin Roberts, Trout Fishing in America, Tom Chapin, John McCutcheon, Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” Cosgrove and the Hiccups, Funky Mama, Dino O’Dell and more.

Jiggle Jam will include dance, music, craft and exercise workshops. Wonderscope Children’s Museum will provide activities like tea parties and parades and the Crown Center grounds will be set up with bubble tents and bouncy toys.

Jiggle Jam runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 24 and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, May 25.

Tickets are $10 at the gate for kids 2-18 and $8 in advance. Adults are $5 and children under 2 are free. Tickets can be purchased at www.kcjigglejam.com or area Hy-Vee stores.
