Injury accident
Lauren E. Valaika, 20, of Spring Hill was driving a 2001 Ford Econoline van east on 223rd Street west of Lackman Road at 7:39 a.m. July 25 when she lost control of the vehicle, which overturned in a ditch, according to a Miami County Sheriff’s Office report. Valaika suffered a non-disabling injury and was taken by ambulance to Olathe Medical Center. She was wearing a seat belt.

Jeremy A. McDowell of Parker was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla north on Old Kansas City Road south of 335th Street at 9:19 p.m. July 20 when he hit a deer, according to a sheriff’s office report. McDowell was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.
Carl J. Long of Osawatomie was backing a 2000 Chevrolet dump truck on 287th Street east of U.S. Highway 69 at 7:45 a.m. July 23 when he hit a parked 2008 Ford X126, according to a sheriff’s office report. Long was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.
Jason A. Rankin of Louisburg was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado west on Kansas Highway 68 west of Spring Valley Road at 6:14 p.m. July 23 when he hit a deer, according to a sheriff’s office report. No injuries were reported. Rankin and his two passengers were wearing seat belts.
Judith E. Cripps of Friendswood, Texas was driving a 2008 Ford Focus north on Crescent Hill Road at 6:45 p.m. July 24 when she hit the rear of a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Tommy D. Williams of Paola, who was stopped at the 287th Street intersection. No injuries were reported. Cripps and Williams were wearing seat belts.
Frankie D. Brewer of Osawatomie was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo north on U.S. Highway 169 south of 239th Street at 7:45 a.m. July 25 when she hit a deer, according to a sheriff’s office report. Brewer was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.
Tera L. Rhynerson of Linn Valley was driving a 2007 Kia Optima west on 359th Street west of New Lancaster Road at 7:35 a.m. July 26 when she swerved to avoid a deer, slid into the north ditch and hit a fence, according to a sheriff’s office report. Rhynerson was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.

Crystal D. Hensley of Paola reported a metal mailbox was damaged at 31899 Somerset Road between 6:30 p.m. July 22 and 5:30 a.m. July 23. The damage estimate is $75.
Richard J. Clinton of Paola reported a metal mailbox was damaged at 31316 W. 311th St. between 2 and 4:30 p.m. July 24. The damage estimate is $30.
Daniel W. Hunt of Louisburg reported three mailboxes were damaged along 271st Street near Louisburg between 12:40 and 12:45 a.m. July 27. The damage estimate is $170.
John R. Nichols of Paola reported a metal mailbox was damaged at 23702 W. 311th St. between 8:53 and 9:11 a.m. July 27. The damage estimate is $20.

Sha-ron E. Leach, 30, was booked into the Miami County Jail on July 23 for allegedly driving with a canceled or suspended license.
Derrick D. Roop, 28, was booked into jail on July 25 for allegedly possessing a simulated controlled substance.
Matthew A. Joles, 20, was booked into jail on July 25 for allegedly possessing a depressant and driving while suspended.
Lamar Q. Barnes, 29, was booked into jail on July 26 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and transporting an open container.
Reuben E. Stevenson, 46, was booked into jail on July 28 for allegedly while suspended, transporting an open container and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jodi R. Mills, 29, was booked into jail on July 28 for an alleged probation violation.
Jerry B. Brinkley, 34, was booked into jail on July 29 for allegedly driving while suspended.
