William Eugene Damron
1941-2008
William Eugene Damron, 67, Paola, died at his home on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008.
Better known as Bill, he was born July 10, 1941, in Fontana to Franklin Eugene and Lavonna Thornton Damron.
He grew up in Oklahoma City. He enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1958 to 1965.
He moved to Paola after the service and was married on Aug. 26, 1965, to Shirley Harbison in Paola. He was a carpenter and he also worked for the City of Paola for a few years and then as a custodian for the school district.
He was a scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Fontana Christian (Church of Christ) Church, and the Paola Ruritan Club.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; two sons, Dave and Dennis, both of Paola; one grandson; two sisters, Diane Husted and Sylvia Kehoe of Paola; and a brother, Jim Damron of Oklahoma City. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Memorial graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Paola Cemetery. Arrangements are by Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071, 294-2372.
