Lenexan chairs national committee
Lenexa City Councilman Andy Huckaba has been appointed chair of the National League of Cities’ 2011 Information Technology and Communications Policy and Advocacy Committee.The committee is one of NLC’s seven standing committees developing policy positions and advocating on behalf of municipal governments.“As the leaders of the National League of Cities, we must work with Congress and the administration to ensure that our cities’ most pressing concerns are addressed in federal policy,” said NLC President James E. Mitchell Jr., a Charlotte, N.C., city council member. “I know I can count on Andy for leadership in promoting NLC’s municipal agenda to federal policymakers and ensuring that the needs of NLC’s members will be conveyed to federal policymakers.”Each NLC policy and advocacy committee has a membership of about 100 officials from cities and towns throughout the nation. The committee discusses and identifies specific policy issues to be addressed during the year.The National League of Cities is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance.
