Clay County Tourism Board adds Kearney representative

After several months of applying, waiting and then finally getting approval Siouxsan Eisen was sworn in April 30 as the representative for the Kearney area of the Clay County Tourism Board.

Eisen said it was a long process but that she was glad that one of Kearney’s own would be representing the town.

Holt mom juggles kids, career, community

At the age of 19, Kathie Ousley met her husband, Jason, and went from being the child of a Navy parent to being the wife of a Marine. Two short years later the couple gave birth to their first baby, Joseph.

“When he was born, it was 4 a.m., and we didn’t have a name picked out, so I let Jason pick,” Kathie said. “I loved being pregnant. To feel them kick, the ultrasounds, everything. It’s just such an amazing time.”

Kate Flinn and Katelin Leon stood around with not much to do but share a few jokes. That’s what happens at the defensive end of the field when the ball rarely crosses midfield in a blowout, like the three the Kearney High girls soccer team experienced last week.

Soccer coaches vote Kearney as No. 2 district seed

Not the best overall record in the field or a nine-match winning streak proved to be enough for the Kearney High girls soccer team to receive a top district seed.

The Bulldogs (15-3 coming into the week) had to settle for the No. 2 spot in next week’s Class 1 District 13 tournament in Excelsior Springs.

Chamber honors area educators

It was a full-blown red carpet gala for educators and students at the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce 2008 Excellence in Education Banquet.
