Wrestlers bring home medals

Kids club went to Olathe and Baldwin tournaments

The Louisburg Kids Wrestling Club traveled to two tournaments over the weekend and brought home plenty of medals to show for it.

Louisburg’s open wrestlers traveled to the Olathe Northwest Tournament on Saturday and seven Wildcats placed.

Mason Koechner, who wrestled in the 12-and-under, 165-pound class, took first overall and pinned three opponents on his way to hop honors.

Eight-and-under wrestlers Ben Wiedenmann and Harrison Kalinka also brought home first-place medals. Wiedenmann won the 88-pound bracket while Kalinka finished first at 67 pounds.

Cade Holtzen (10-U, 55) brought home runner-up honors, while Jackson Owens (12-U, 80) and Josh Holtzen (6-U, 40) finished third. Ryan Owens (8-U, 49) took fourth overall.

Louisburg’s novice wrestlers ventured to the Baldwin Tournament on Sunday and four wrestlers won their bracket.

Noah Jackson (10-U, 64), Will Hutsell (6-U. 58), Peyton Jackson (6-U, 55) and Jackson Olson (6-U, 43) took first-place honors.

Jimmy Dolan (14-U, 130), Ian Combs (10-U, 79), Jay McCaskill (6-U, 46), Reid McCaskill (6-U, 43) and Josiah McCaskill (6-U, 40) all finished second.

Alec Maler (12-U, 80), Trey LaPlant (8-U, 55), Nathan Vincent (6-U, 58) and Beau McCorkendale (6-U, 46) each took third.
